The definition of Innovation by Merriam Webster is:
1. the introduction of something new
2. a new idea, method, or device : novelty
Such a simple definition but one that truly motivates me and is one of the reasons why I love Perinatal nursing! As nurses, we see and experience new innovations on a regular basis. Recently the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) created a Trusted Leaders program that highlights some of the recent innovations within the Perinatal environment. AWHONN describes the Trusted Leaders Program as: “an in-depth, online program featuring interviews, news items, and sponsored editorial profiles of leaders and key organizations, showcasing the contemporary practices and innovative leadership provided by the nurses who serve as the front-line advocates for excellence in health outcomes for women and newborns.” GE Healthcare’s Centricity Perinatal is honored to be part of this program.
While we were working with ITN productions on the AWHONN trusted leaders program video, it was exciting to hear from our customers how much they have come to rely on our product to help them streamline their clinical workflows and prove the best care to their moms and babies. What Angie shared with me is the key to successful innovation, it’s those products that really promote clinical excellence and work directly with the clinician to achieve the goal versus working against them.
